Hobart 2012 (Day 3)

Salamanca market, which was just 10 minutes walk from Somerset on the Pier. This market opens every Saturday.

As we reached Salamanca market quite early, we bought some food stuff and munched along the way as our breakfast.

There are many hand-made stalls in the market.

Love the vegetables, they looked very dainty and attractive!

A bright and sunny morning ...

Next, we moved on to Wellington mountain. It have been quite cloudy for the last two days and I was hoping that we need not go up to the mountain. I have been to this mountain many years ago and it was freezing cold during that time ... could not forget the "freezing" moment!

Amazing look-out point ...
Relatively clear day and nice climate ... love the clouds on that particular day.
Welcome to Mount Wellington!
An bird eye's view of the Hobart.

Rocks and more rocks in Wellington mountain.
Russell Falls are located on the eastern boundary of Mount Field National Park, in Tasmania, Australia.

The pavement will lead to this waterfall in a good 10 minutes time easy walk.
We spent a considerable number of time to take some photos of this fall.
The little stream at the bottom of the fall.

Hobart 2012 (Day 4)

Our fourth  relaxing day in Tasmania ! Time flies !
This was the last opportunity to buy things home. We spent the entire morning shopping at Target to get some clothing etc ...

We went to Sorell Fruit Farm. A rather small farm but good enough for us to while away some time picking strawberries which happened to be the only fruits to be picked durrng this season.
Each visitor will get an empty plastic container for A6.00 which includes the entrance fee into the farm. These are some of the fruits which you can find in the farm during the right seasons.

Three fields of strawberries to pick from ...
Ripening nectarines ...

Pretty sweet strawberries ...

We have quite a good time trying to pick the strawberries though ...
Happy with our picks!

Our lunch venue ... a humble eating place manned by fishermen. No fanciful plates and table set-up. No extensive menus for you to choose from. They sold whatever catch they have on that day wrapped up in baking sheets and double-wrapped with newspapers! Should I say this is the most unpretentious meal that we ever had? Anyhow, we have chosen to seat outside on the table and bench!
Eaglehawk Neck.
The Blowhole.

Hobart 2012 (Day 2)

Our breakfast for the morning ... to start the day.

Just wanted to do dressed up to take a few photos of ourselves in Richmond Village.

Richmond bridge is the oldest bridge in Australia.

And the bridge is still in use till today ...
St John's Catholic Church (1837) and burial ground. It is the oldest Catholic Church in Australia! This church is less than 5 minutes walk from Richmond bridge.
The interior of the relatively old church ...

The burial grounds just outside the catholic church ...

As we were driving out from Richmond village, this lovely field of yellow flowers caught our eyes.
And the lovely black and white spotted cows ... my favourite breed of cows ... they look so peaceful grazing on the grass ...

Next, we visited Bonarong Wildlife Sanctuary. The lovable Koala bear .. who can resist the cute look?
This little one was sitting on the floor ...

This pretty and vain peacock "blocked" our lane to another area in the park ...

The Tasmania Devil ! This guy is confined alone and he has been going round and round around his pen. It is almost predictable what he will do next as we watched him for almost 15 minutes!

Another bigger pen where there are four Tasmania Devils ... we only managed to spot three so far.

Feeding time with a wallaby's limb! Doesn't sound appetizing, isn't it ? Tasmania Devils are scavengers .
Despite it's small size, during feeding time, the sound they made is devilish!

An animal feed (pallets) were given to each visitor ... most of the kangeroos were not hungry anyhow.
Most were just lying around and having a good and relaxing time ...
A one year old wombat came out for his feed ... a cute little fellow.
I was glad that the little one came nearer to the hay so that I could captured his cute face!
He must be hungry!
A little itch ...

This is another tiny wombat which given to the Wildlife Park by someone who him almost dead. He was nursed back to health by the park.
